‘Time capsule’ home for sale in Brisbane will require serious elbow grease

The buyer of a fixer-upper in Brisbane will feel like they’re going back in time.

A dilapidated home in Herston, that’s yet to be sold after its scheduled auction date, will require some serious elbow grease with just a very basic framework in place.

The three-bedroom, one-bathroom property at 11 McLeod Street is described as a “time capsule” on the listing by Place Newmarket, due to its “plethora of traditional features”.

This refers to the home’s original hardwood floors and ornate balustrades, which are in need of a good sand and polish.

It was previously advertised without a price guide as Queensland law prohibits agents from setting price guides for properties going to auction. Nine has reached out to the agents for its new price guide.

Pricefinder records show the property last sold for $1 million back in November 2020.

Listed by Place Newmarket, the fixer-upper is described as a “character house with endless potential”.

The buyer will need to be a fan of reno shows like The Block, with the property requiring a serious renovation.

It could also be bulldozed to make way for a dream home or subdivided, subject to council approval.

From street view, the property lacks kerb appeal with no gate, grass, and just a basic concrete pathway.
